Programme Features

Professional Recognition

The Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management (HDHM) Programme, offered by the Department of Business and Hospitality Management, aims to provide students with a broad and enriched learning experience in hospitality management and to enhance their intellectual and personal development. The Programme offers students with both academic and vocational training that enables them to take up the relevant roles in the hospitality fields by applying their creative thinking, techniques and skills. The provision of high quality and practical education through the Programme intends to build up students‟ confidence, competence and understanding of the respective disciplines, and also to facilitate them for becoming effective and efficient practitioners either in employment or for higher education. The Programme also includes General Education (GE) and different required courses in its curriculum. Such a basic and rich scope will enable students to make their best informed-decisions in deciding their goals for further studies and career development.

Internship and Partners

Internship

Students are required to complete at least 500 hours of internship to be eligible for the award of the Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management. Students will be arranged to participate in internship at hotels, restaurants and/or travel services companies.

  • Have obtained Level 2 in five subjects (including Chinese Language and English Language) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE); OR
  • Have obtained Grade E or above in one AL / two ASL subjects in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) plus five passes in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) including Chinese Language and English Language; OR

Higher Diploma in Design is one of the subsidised programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP). The tuition fee after the deduction of the $22,050 subsidy under the SSSDP in 2021-22 is $41,250 per year.

Remarks: he subsidy is only applicable to local students.

    1. Any core or electives subjects in HKDSE will be taken into account. Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) are considered as independent subjects in the total score calculation. The HKDSE level attainments are converted to level points as follows: 5**=7, 5*=6, etc…
    2. "Attained" and "Attained with Distinction" in Applied Learning (ApL) subjects are considered to be equivalent to Level 2 and Level 3 in DSE subjects respectively. A maximum of 2 ApL subjects are allowed to be taken into account.
