Programme Features

The Department of Design offers an exciting portfolio of courses that strive towards providing a range of disciplines for anyone looking for career opportunities in fashion design, graphic design, interior architecture, media production and other related disciplines. All courses are managed by specialist design professionals in well-equipped studios and classrooms. The Department believes that students would learn and gain necessary knowledge and skills from the programme by lectures and seminars and such learning elements, but also by supporting students’ self-development and exploration of design concepts. These are delivered via project-led learning activities such as lectures, group and/ or individual tutorials and workshops as well as e-tutorials.


Programme Objectives

  • To equip students with understanding, competence and confidence to become an effective practitioner or seek further study opportunities.
  • To promote and develop local design activities.
  • To strengthen the concepts of art and culture in context, by helping students' imagination along practical knowledge and skills to meet the creative challenges of the 21st century.

Learning Outcomes

  • Graduates can take up employment in various positions within different creative industries. Employment opportunities are provided by fashion and textile companies, advertising agencies, design studios, interior design companies, architectural design offices and inhouse design departments of larger brands and companies.
  • With interdisciplinary knowledge and skills learnt and the close networks created with cross-disciplinary peers, graduates are well equipped and confident enough to set own design studio and related business.

The Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management (HDHM) Programme, offered by the Department of Business and Hospitality Management, aims to provide students with a broad and enriched learning experience in hospitality management and to enhance their intellectual and personal development. The Programme offers students with both academic and vocational training that enables them to take up the relevant roles in the hospitality fields by applying their creative thinking, techniques and skills. The provision of high quality and practical education through the Programme intends to build up students‟ confidence, competence and understanding of the respective disciplines, and also to facilitate them for becoming effective and efficient practitioners either in employment or for higher education. The Programme also includes General Education (GE) and different required courses in its curriculum. Such a basic and rich scope will enable students to make their best informed-decisions in deciding their goals for further studies and career development.
